The town of Petersburg, TN
Petersburg, TN in 2002
Petersburg, TN was home to my parents for over 20 years. As I visited them over the years, I
had the experience of watching this little town change over those two decades. I will admit that when
I first saw it, I was less than impressed. If a building wasn't crumbling, it was probably in a state of
disrepair. It was not a place that I would have considered a nice place to live.

Petersburg, TN in 2023
Flash forward to 2023. Petersburg has changed immensely since the days when my parents first
moved there.
I was amazed at the changes that had happened and wanted to write about it. It deserves to be
shared. 😀
The town is getting cleaned up now. Old buildings have been torn down except for iconic
structures.
Those have been cleaned
up and add to the ambience of the place. New shops have opened up and restaurants as well.
My mom said that
they are doing well so that is amazing! I'm happy that all the hard work has paid
off for this town.

I had the pleasure of speaking with one of the shop owners the last day I was there. He said that
he and his wife
have been working diligently to keep things nice and add little touches to make the town better.
One example is
that they have added some lights around the border of the building where their shop is at. I
didn't get to see it at night but I
can imagine that it is a really
nice touch!
Their store is a flea market and is called Junk and Stuff.
These are a couple of pictures I took to show the
uniqueness of this store.
It is this type of character and charm that is making Petersburg a nice place to live and visit.
It was obvious that they cared
deeply for the town and the work they were putting into making it a better place.

People in the town continue to make improvements, add more murals, and open new stores. I'm proud
to be able to share
a little snapshot of this town and show how all their hard work is paying off.
I found several articles relating the the town's efforts and future plans. It is obvious that
they are
continuing to make improvements.
It is a bucolic place and has all the charm you would expect from a small town.
Here are some more pictures of the surrounding area that highlight some of the rustic beauty.

My parents loved living here. It was perfectly suited for how they liked to live.
This article is in loving memory of my father, Stephen Elsinger. This is a picture of him on his
birthday this year.
We love you Dad!
